ADD and ADHD: What exactly do those letters mean?

After a brief review of what ADD/ADHD is and isn't, our conversation will address questions like

• What do attention deficit disorders look like in the lives of people we serve?
• How are marriages and families affected? 
• What can I do if I think someone might have an attention deficit disorder?
• What do people experience with medication?

Facilitating Attachment Through Stories. We will be looking at using narratives to facilitate attachment in adopted children.  This is an ongoing group for families who have, or are in the process of adopting children. This meeting is for adults only. We are trying to meet in the morning during school to see if more people can attend.

Step out of the rush for a few hours and have some quality time with God.  Each Friday has a different theme, providing a focus for the opening/closing meditation, a visual centrepiece, and reflective stations.   The majority of the day is for you to spend with God in quiet - we provide the space (indoors and out), and plenty of resources and practical ideas.  For those new to silent retreats, we hope this will be a gentle introduction for you.  Many have commented that although they felt a bit unsure beforehand, they were really glad to have made the space and time to spend with God.  Each day is limited to 18 participants. 

Most often the conflicts arising in groups are due to the cultural differences. Once these differences are understood and ways of adjusting to a different culture are implemented, the conflicts are often resolved.  Sarah Lanier, international consultant and author of  Foreign to Familiar, will facilitate understanding through interactive examples of how to deal with multicultural situations.  (The seminar will be translated into Thai).

We’re all familiar with the airline drill, “Put the oxygen mask over your face before putting it on your child”.  Sorry to say, it really did take me awhile to understand the logic of that.  I’m still trying understand it in everyday life. Doesn’t it often seem that everyone else’s needs are more pressing than our own?  Being in ministry it feels counter intuitive to care for myself before caring for others.  What is involved in taking the “beam out of my own eye” before concerning myself with another?  What does it look like to be aware of yourself and not be self centered? Or in other words, how can I care for myself and be other centered in the way I relate?  We invite you to our March network meeting to engage in these and other questions surrounding the subject of self care.

A great time for families with children ages 4-20 to reflect over the impact transitions have had in their lives! This is for families who have gone through or will go through transition.  It doesn’t matter if you have just moved to Chiang Mai, if you have been here for a while, or you are preparing to leave. The whole day is centered on activities that you will do together as a family.   Registration is limited to 8 families.
