Job Description:

The Well Member Care Center is a growing and stimulating place to serve God.  From a very loose collection of member care providers and counselors in 2000, to a more mature but still developing group of people today, The Well seeks to provide a wide range of member care services throughout Southeast, Central, and East Asia.  It serves people working in countries from Japan to Central Asia, and even the Middle East and Africa; and from Mongolia to Indonesia.
We are looking for a person with the ability to relate warmly to colleagues, the national staff, and the larger community.  The Director will represent The Well to the community, to missions organizations, and to the Kijkandee Foundation, which is the legal umbrella under which The Well functions in Thailand.  The director is also responsible to work with the Board of Governance for The Well.
We are looking for a person with flexibility to deal with the ever changing situation in Member Care in general, and in the political and cultural circumstances of life in Asia.  The Director will have freedom in guiding the organization in ways of providing Member Care in a world with new economic realities and communication technology.

We are looking for an individual who will provide leadership in both member care and in administration, and who can guide The Well in fulfilling its purpose.  Member care skills might include training in counseling, pastoral care, or extended field experience.  Administrative abilities include organizing volunteer member care workers and a small national staff in exploring new and innovative ways to provide member care services in the future.
The Director will have responsibility to do or oversee the following specific areas:

  1. To provide counseling, member care delivery and preventative services according to the training, interests and time availability at the Center.
  2. To provide training and supervision to the member care providers.
  3. Board Administration and Support – Supports operations and administration of the Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between the Board and staff, and supporting Board’s evaluation of the The Well Member Care Center Director.
  4. Program and Service Delivery – Oversees design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs and services. Identifies trends in Member Care service delivery to help The Well continue to be at the forefront of care in this region.
  5. Financial Management – Recommends yearly budget for Board’s approval and prudently manages organization’s resources within those budget guidelines.
  6. Human Resource Management – Effectively manages the volunteers and staff of the organization according to authorized guidelines and procedures.
  7. Community and Public Relations – Assures the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant participants.
  8. Fundraising – Oversees funding needs and develops strategies for obtaining additional funds as needed to implement the goals of The Well, under the approval of the Board.
